Flooding disrupts Worcs pre-season

Flood damage at Worcestershire's New Road has forced the club to move pre-season training to Kidderminster.

The club have installed a giant marquee to cover the square at Chester Road to enable training on outdoor wickets.

"The (New Road) square was re-seeded 10 days ago and the plan is to return in early April," said Worcestershire chief executive David Leatherdale.

"I'm confident it'll be ready for the season. It's already 10 times better and there's no home game until May."

New Road, which is located alongside the River Severn, was flooded last November to a depth of more than 4.7m, the first time the ground had been under water since 2008.
