Fire damages home; no injuries reported

Montgomery firefighters extinguished a fire Monday at a home in the Chisholm neighborhood.
Firefighters got the call at 7:58 a.m. and were on the scene at 1800 Crouson St., three minutes later to battle a blaze in the attic.
A woman who lived in the house was able to escape, and there were no injuries.
The fire caused heavy damage to the attic and kitchen of the home, District Chief Chad Strickland said.
It is believed that the fire started in the kitchen, but the cause remains under investigation, Strickland said.
Eight units responded, and it took 17 minutes to bring the fire under control.
On Sunday night, firefighters responded to a house fire just a few blocks away on Gibson Street.
No one was home at the time of that blaze about 7:30 p.m., and there was heavy damage to the structure, said Lt. Kenny Jones, a Montgomery Fire Department spokesman.
There were no injuries, and that fire remains under investigation as well, Jones said.
